DinnerRoster plans family dinners. That needs very little personal data, and this page lists all of it. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
What we collect
Before you create an account
When you open the app we create an anonymous session so your dinner choices survive a page reload. It is identified by a random identifier stored in your browser, and it is not linked to your name or email. At this stage we hold the number of people eating, the dinners you picked, the resulting seven-night plan and your time zone.
When you create an account
- Your email address, used to send the six-digit sign-in code and, later, the weekly reminder. If you sign in with Google instead, we receive the email address and basic profile information of that Google account.
- Your household: the number of people, the time zone, and any other adult you invite.
- How you use the week: the dinners you chose, which grocery lines you checked off, which dinners you marked cooked or skipped, and the one-tap verdict you gave afterwards. This is what makes the next week's suggestions better.
- Your subscription status, if you subscribe. See payments below.
What we never collect
We do not ask for allergies, medical or dietary health information, children's names or profiles, or your address. Accounts are for adults; DinnerRoster is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe's own checkout page and never reach our servers. We store only the identifiers Stripe gives us and whether your subscription is active.
Who processes your data
- Supabase — accounts, household data and the saved week.
- Stripe — subscriptions and payments.
- PostHog — product analytics, when enabled, so we can see which steps people abandon. Used for improving the product, not for advertising.
- Google Ads — when we are running ads, a Google tag records that a subscription (or a free account) followed an ad click, so we know which ads are worth paying for. It is used to measure our own advertising, and we do not upload your email address or household data to it.
These providers act on our instructions. Data is processed in the United States.
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in, and local storage to keep your current week available on your device — including offline, so the grocery list still opens in the store. When analytics are enabled, PostHog also sets a cookie to recognise a returning browser. When we are running ads, Google's conversion tag also sets a cookie and stores the click identifier from the ad you arrived on, so a later subscription can be attributed to it. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use these cookies to build advertising profiles or to follow you around other sites.
How long we keep it
Your household data is kept while your account exists. Anonymous sessions that never become accounts are cleared periodically. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your household data within 30 days, except records we must keep for accounting.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it. Email support@dinnerroster.com from the address on the account and we will confirm within 30 days. If you are a California resident, you also have the rights described in the CCPA/CPRA — including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
The weekly reminder email can be turned off at any time using the unsubscribe link it contains. Sign-in codes are not marketing and are always sent.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so on this page and update the date above.
